Common questions
Got questions? Here are the ones I hear most.
Hypnotherapy is a focused, natural state where you remain aware and in control. Below are quick answers to the questions clients ask before they begin.
Is hypnotherapy safe? Will I lose control?
Hypnotherapy is a focused, relaxed state where you remain aware and in control at all times. You can speak, move and stop the process whenever you wish. Nothing is done without your consent.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people work with me for around seven sessions on average, depending on the patterns involved and your goals. Some notice early shifts; others choose extra sessions for deeper support. We review progress as we go and tailor the plan.
Can hypnotherapy help chronic pain?
Yes. Combined with Strategic Psychotherapy and movement-based strategies, hypnotherapy can reduce pain intensity and improve function by changing how the brain and body respond to pain signals.
Are online sessions effective?
Yes. Online sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions when you have a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space. Many clients across Australia choose online support.
What if I've tried other therapies before?
Many people come to this work after trying other approaches that did not create lasting change. That is often because the underlying patterns were never fully identified or shifted. This approach focuses directly on those maintaining patterns.
What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?
Hypnotherapy is a focused, deeply relaxed state where you remain aware and in control. It can help you access automatic and subconscious patterns in a safe and structured way, making it easier to create new responses and reduce unhelpful habits.
What happens during a session?
Each session starts with a conversation about your challenges and goals. Then you enter a deeply relaxed state where we work on reframing negative patterns and reinforcing positive change. You're always fully aware and remain in control.
How is Strategic Psychotherapy different from traditional talk therapy?
Strategic Psychotherapy focuses on how a problem is maintained in the present, not only why it began in the past. It aims to identify the patterns that keep an issue repeating and change those patterns directly. The approach is practical, goal-focused and often more direct than open-ended therapy.
Will I remember everything after a session?
Most people do. You remain aware throughout and can usually recall what was discussed and experienced. Some people feel very relaxed and may forget small details, like drifting in and out of a daydream, but you are never out of it or unaware.
